I have been working in the garden trying to rake up dead leaves and plant a few flowers and a tiny vegetable garden...sooo....I haven't been able to paint or draw.
I am posting a portrait of an old woman. This was done in graphite.
I am making a shadow box to place my still life objects in so that I can control the light. I saw something similar on Wet Canvas months ago. I really like the set up that Carol Marine has, but haven't been able to have it built yet. I plan on cutting round holes in the sides where I can shine a light through and get a more directional lighting angle. In my studio I don't have good natural lighting so I must use lamps. It is a good size box and very sturdy. I am anxious to try it out!
6"X 6" Oil Ampersand Gessobord $125.00 I'm ready to chill out after this one. It was really HARD! So many petals going all different ways. I am pleased with the results. I have to laugh at myself....I thought of showing a step by step process in the painting of this peony....but....never looks like anything until the last few strokes! I am happy with this painting however I got here. This painting is found here :
