Red Grapes

Small 6"x 6" study of grapes done in my studio from life.  This painting will be for sale in my Etsy shop when dry.

Green grapes on Red Plate

6"X 6" Oil Ampersand Gessobord $100.00 What is the lesson about color?  You may have a set up with specific colors but they are merely color notes that can be changed as the painting progresses.  I work process which is the way that I painted when I was working purely abstractly.  In that progression colors are added and removed until the painting looks and feels right.  In this painting I was attracted to the color of the grapes and that is how I built the composition.  The translucent of the grapes just drew me right in and gave me a reason to paint.  It is a little like love at first sight. This is my submission to Day 18 of the 30 in 30 challenge.  This painting can be found here .

Red Grapes

11"X 14" Oil Stretched Canvas $350.00   I really enjoyed painting this painting.  It felt a little bit out of my comfort zone because I have been painting on much smaller canvases.  In this painting I tried some things that I have seen some of my favorite artists do when laying out and painting.  It worked. Zorn Still Life

12" X 12"  $125.00 For Sale On Etsy     I used a very limited palette for this painting.  Sarah Sedwick posted a palette called the Zorn Palette that consisted of Titanium White, Ivory Black ( this was the black I chose), Cadmium Red, and Yellow Ochre.  I loved the nearly full range of colors that you could achieve.  I will paint this still life next with a palette that I usually use.   $125.00 plus 15.00 shipping

'Grapes and Apples' still life abstract

I have been reading a wonderful book on how to make the most of your paintings and have learned so much. In this painting I concentrated on the composition. It is important to have a well balanced composition with easy passages and interesting transitions. It was also very important that I keep a fresh clean palette.
