I am exploring my Procreate App ad enjoying the freedom that I have.....it is quick and colorful and just loads of fun.  Still continuing my Abstract painting class and I know that you all have seen the changes that I am going through.  I look forward to seeing how this will impact my oil painting.  Thank you so much for being a faithful follower......

This was a fun one!!!!!

Well, this was a really fun painting.....

Loved painting this painting.....palette.....Cad Yellow Lt & Med & Deep.....Quinacridone Magenta, Alizarin Crimson, Ultramarine Blue, Turquoise Blue. Sap Green, Ivory Black, and Titanium White.  It was a big palette...but I needed it because I couldn't quite get the tints or shades that I was after.  This was the beginning of a turn toward larger paintings.

Very last painting in 2016.....on to a new year and hopefully a productive one!

Once again I will need to photograph in the daylight because the colors aren't as intense as they are in true to life.  I really cut loose with this painting.  I focused once again on my 'treasures'....my stash of still life objects to paint.  I kind of enjoy this because I don't have to compose a story....I like things to be quite natural.  With this it is about the objects...their relationships to one another...color....interaction.....It is about letting my feelings come through the painting.  I am either going in the wrong direction or in the right direction....I think I will just need to weather this one through.

I chose this image to paint because of the dark background and the darker value throughout the entire painting.  This was a kind of experiment in color and value.  This is my entry for Day 16 of the 30 in 30 challenge.

    6"X 6" Oil Ampersand Gessobord $100.00 What is the lesson about color?  You may have a set up with specific colors but they are merely color notes that can be changed as the painting progresses.  I work process which is the way that I painted when I was working purely abstractly.  In that progression colors are added and removed until the painting looks and feels right.  In this painting I was attracted to the color of the grapes and that is how I built the composition.  The translucent of the grapes just drew me right in and gave me a reason to paint.  It is a little like love at first sight. 6"X4" Oil Canvas Board                                                                             $115.00    I redid this painting on a smaller scale and worked more quickly...I find that sometimes I belabor the process and I do not get the energy I am looking for.  I like this little study a lot.

  8"X 8" Oil Canvas Panel $120.00 I have always liked this little 8"X8" oil painting done on a canvas panel.  I love to paint roses.  What I liked in particular about this painting was the simplicity of the forms.  The Vaseline Vase is my very most favorite vase.  Vaseline glass glows when placed under a black light and has the most incredible yellow green color when placed directly in the sunlight.  I bought this vase on Etsy at one of my favorite shops (Annykate).  This painting can be purchased here .

  6" X 8" Oil Canvas Board   $115.00 I am going back to the basics for a while...concentrating my efforts on establishing strong patterns of color and value.  I liked this quote that I found the other day:  "Art is a collaboration between God and the artist, and the less the artist does the better."  Andre Gide

I know that marachino cherries may not be good for you but they hold a special place in my memory.
