Papercut collage e-course

I decided that I wanted to work with pattern on pattern since I feel that is a real weak area for me.  What I read today was that when work with color it is a good idea to use tone and undertone to create great harmony.  My thinking was that would be a good way to approach pattern against pattern.

Bonjour,

Un collage très intéressant. J'aime l'harmonie des couleurs et les formes qui se rencontrent.
Gros bisous ♡
So then the solid color is the tone on tone? I like this where will it go from here? you are really changing things up .

Thank you Martine!!!

Cathy...the way that I understand tone and undertone is this: lets take red for example....let's say the warm red is the tone and then the undertone would be a cool red. It is really as simple as that. However, it has big payoffs in terms of compositional color. Does that make sense?

VANITY SOLD

I LOVE 'girl' things like lipstick, perfume, nail polish bottles, and pretty little compact cases. In this painting I was working for limited strokes. I would lay down the paint and leave it without manipulating it in any way. 6X6 inches oil Raymar canvas panel (Archival)

LITTLE ORANGE TEAPOT SOLD

Red Orange is another of my favorite colors. When I saw this great tea pot in one of the stores in town I wanted it right away. But, I thought and thought about it and when I went back to the store it was still there and I decided that it was mine! I am not a tea drinker but I have always loved the shapes and sizes and variety of design of teapots. In this painting I backlit the teapot with natural and studio lighting. I was experimenting with the changing values and shadow. 8X8 inches oil Raymar Canvas Panel (Archival)
