Oranges


I really didn't know what I wanted to paint today until I looked down at the orange that I had just cut into pieces and there was my painting. Because the sections were cut, the meat of the orange was exposed and the color was very intense. I applied the paint thick over thin until I achieved the desired look that I was after. I used a cool Cobalt blue and a variety of orange, reds, and yellows.

Beautiful colors in the orange. Great job on that. I really like the deep blue of the plate behind the orange slices. It really sets off the colors.

The minute I saw these I could almost smell the citrus. My mouth is watering. Guess that means they really did pass the visual test, huh? Great confident strokes of paint.

LITTLE ORANGE TEAPOT SOLD

Red Orange is another of my favorite colors. When I saw this great tea pot in one of the stores in town I wanted it right away. But, I thought and thought about it and when I went back to the store it was still there and I decided that it was mine! I am not a tea drinker but I have always loved the shapes and sizes and variety of design of teapots. In this painting I backlit the teapot with natural and studio lighting.
