Lemon Slices Day 6

I have gone back to the implement that I most love to draw with. A common mechanical pencil is my favorite tool. In this drawing I wanted to see if I could capture the luminous light that filtered through these lemons. I was also working with a light to dark value structure. This is a small drawing about 7 by 7 inches on a multi media paper.

Before I read your post, I was intrigued by the scratchy shadow lines under the lemon slices, and wondered how you achieved it. It must be the mechanical pencil, which I've never used for drawing. Just lovely! I also love the little boy from yesterday.

Very nice. Drawings like this are a great way to work out the composition and values before doing a painting. I don't do it often enough for paintings but when I do they turn out better. Do you do them for your paintings?

Peach Peony....Day 24

6"X 6" Oil Ampersand Gessobord $125.00 I'm ready to chill out after this one.  It was really HARD!   So many petals going all different ways.  I am pleased with the results.  I have to laugh at myself....I thought of showing a step by step process in the painting of this peony....but....never looks like anything until the last few strokes!  I am happy with this painting however I got here.  This painting is found here :
