Bag of Grapefruit

It took me some time to look at this painting and figure out where I wanted to take it. I have completed this painting and feel good about it. Yellow is such a difficult color for me to work with. There is something unusually hard in finding the values and having them look correct. After much deliberation I decided that I would vaguely imply the red bag because to define it would be too tight for the loose rendering of the grapefruit. I changed the background color to harmonize better with the grapefruit.

Very nice, Linda. Love the new background color. The bag is just perfect--enough detail to tell what it is, but still nice and loose. Great job!

I completely agree with what Virginia said- all is implied and lovely and loose. The background color is spot on- good call!

Nice work, Linda! Your grapefruit are so nice and solid and the bag is so transparent and, well, plastic bag-ish. I'm sure it must have been a challenge but you make it look easy.
I was wondering, do you ever show any of your work in Greenville? I'd love to see them in person sometime.

Peach Peony....Day 24

6"X 6" Oil Ampersand Gessobord $125.00 I'm ready to chill out after this one.  It was really HARD!   So many petals going all different ways.  I am pleased with the results.  I have to laugh at myself....I thought of showing a step by step process in the painting of this peony....but....never looks like anything until the last few strokes!  I am happy with this painting however I got here.  This painting is found here :
