Umbrella and Vase of Flowers



I used an underpainting in this composition to create warmth. A large part of a painting is the compostion or design. I am concentrating much effort in setting up the still life. It is difficult to find the correct balance of objects and color. I chose to soften edges and leave areas of the painting abstract. My intention is to lead the eye throughout the painting and create a visual dialogue of movement. This oil painting is 16 by 20 inches on stretched canvas. LITTLE ORANGE TEAPOT SOLD

Red Orange is another of my favorite colors. When I saw this great tea pot in one of the stores in town I wanted it right away. But, I thought and thought about it and when I went back to the store it was still there and I decided that it was mine! I am not a tea drinker but I have always loved the shapes and sizes and variety of design of teapots. In this painting I backlit the teapot with natural and studio lighting.
