This was a fun little painting to do.  I backlit the still life so that the light would shine through the jar of honey and light the edges of the candy can.  I was working wth darker values and balancing the composition with light.  I am very happy with this little painting.

It glows. I love the color reflected on the candy cane, honey and the reflection in the ornaments. Beautifully done Linda.

Thanks Polly...one of those that kind of happened...:)

Thank you, Linda...I learned a lot about how important the right value is.

Thank you, Nancy!
This is a lovely still life. Love the warm colors against the white backgroun and how you place the white grey passive Christmas ornament (not sure if you call it a ball.

I often back lit my still life, gives so much interesting shadows..

I am on a Peony roll here.....just enjoying the process of painting and color.  Can be purchased here .

Peach Peony....Day 24

6"X 6" Oil Ampersand Gessobord $125.00 I'm ready to chill out after this one.  It was really HARD!   So many petals going all different ways.  I am pleased with the results.  I have to laugh at myself....I thought of showing a step by step process in the painting of this peony....but....never looks like anything until the last few strokes!  I am happy with this painting however I got here.  This painting is found here :
