CLEMENTINES AND CHERRIES


This is one of my older paintings but one that I like very much. I don't paint on Sundays and needed a painting so I brought this one out. Do you know that I just discovered Clementines this year....oh my gosh....they are so good! These little gems are sweet and juicy and plain delicious.

I have not seen it before so it is new to me! I can still envision a wall, maybe in a restaurant, covered with these still life paintings. The frames should be thick, almost over-the-top to show the paintings really well!

I really like this one! Love the colors you used in the cherries. And the cherry shadows look good enough to eat. And I really like how you depicted the Clementines in so few strokes!

This is beautiful and reminds me of an early painting lesson at the Cleveland Institute of Art...we had to paint a still life set up in very small blocks of colour only, kind of like a mosaic...I learned more from that lesson than any other at art school...how to see the colours that work together and are adjacent, and the way warm and cool make a difference.

Peach Peony....Day 24
