Leaves

I have been working on this painting for over a year and finally feel that it is completed.  What I love about abstraction is that the emphasis is primarily on color, shape, and intuition.  These remind me of crazy quilts.

Strawberries in Glass Bowl

This small gouache painting is painted on a 140# acid free watercolor paper.  I like the graphic quality of this small painting.

Still Life #6

Image size 5 1/2"x 7" Gouache Mixed Media Paper   This is the 6th still life painting in an ongoing series of gouache paintings.  I found this wonderful old depression glass bowl at one of my favorite thrift stores this past weekend.  I admire the color of the glass when the light filters through it.  It is truly lovely!!  I am beginning to get a nice feel for the medium and love to use it. My one day workshop is rapidly approaching...if you are interested and would like to join me please go here .

Red Grapes

11"X 14" Oil Stretched Canvas $175.00   This is a painting that I have been working on for quite a little while.  I finally think that I have harmony in this painting.
8"X 8" Oil Canvas Panel $125.00 I bought these beets several days ago and needed to paint them because they were not going to last much longer.  Found Here

Ginger Bears

This is the cutest little jar of bear shaped sugared ginger! I love ginger but especially when it is candied. I wasn't sure how I would tacle painting the jar full of ginger so I rendered them very abstract.

Eggplant and Glass Vase

It has been a couple of days since I painted and I felt very rusty but I pulled together a little painting. It is Memorial Weekend and it has been a quiet relaxing time. Wishing you all a happy Memorial Day!!

Lilies

I bought these lilies yesterday discounted and wanted to get a couple of paintings before they die. This little (12x12) still life gave me fits today and I did what I could do and must leave it alone. I know it's not perfect, but gosh, I learned a lot from working on it. It got a little gray and pasty I think but it's not all bad.

Blanket Flower From My Garden

Here is another larger painting; this painting is 20X24 inches on stretched canavas. My garden this year is so pretty. I put in these Blanket flowers this season and they are growing profusely. My intention was to sit right on the line between abstraction and realsm. I have been enjoying the larger format and wide exspanse of brush work.

Vine Tomatoes

It came to my attention that these vine tomatoes were on their way out and that if I wanted to paint them today had to be the day. Have you ever had great expectations about painting something only to decide that something else is more interesting. I bought these tomatoes thinking that I'd rush home and paint them and then time went by and by and by.

Jade Plant

There has been a steady very gentle rain all day today and of course I felt like going to the garden center. Wet or not I looked at all the plants. It was really nice because I was nearly the only one there. I bought several red begonias and then spied this really pretty little jade plant. I placed it in this green glass vase that I have and liked the variety of greens. It was difficult for me to paint though. So many leaves and very little value change between them. I may try again but I wanted to list since I have been struggling with a hurt hand and haven't done so in several days.

Bunny SOLD

I found this little buy among the clearance items today. His ear was torn off and so when I brought him home I used paper glue to attach it and he is perfect. I'm not used to painting anything like this. He is a silver bunny. I may not have captured the silvery look yet. I'll evaluate. If any of you have suggestions I am up for that.

Cake and Cool Whip SOLD

Today is dedicated to marathon painting. I made this vanilla cake yesterday and think that it is pretty enough to be painted! I am still interested in painting my tulips and will tackle a larger painting today. After looking at this again I think I should have named it flying cool whip. It looks as though the cool whip is taking off or fluttering its wings!!
