For me it's all about simplification.... Start by doing what's necessary; then do what's possible; and suddenly you are doing the impossible. Francis of Assisi
Loved painting this painting.....palette.....Cad Yellow Lt & Med & Deep.....Quinacridone Magenta, Alizarin Crimson, Ultramarine Blue, Turquoise Blue. Sap Green, Ivory Black, and Titanium White. It was a big palette...but I needed it because I couldn't quite get the tints or shades that I was after. This was the beginning of a turn toward larger paintings.
6"X 6" Oil Ampersand Gessobord $50.00 Day 25....this painting was not destined to be what I wanted...but, I still like it and am offering it at a discount.
12"X 12' Oil Stretched Canvas $200.00 These are daylilies from my garden...they don't last long so it was a real challenge to capture the lovely light on the petals before they began to turn inward. I used a simple palette here. I have grown to love the violets that I get when I mix Cobalt Blue and Cad Red Medium. Very subtle but very beautiful.
After a few days off from painting and much needed time to reflect and fill myself up again spiritually; I painted this little vibrant painting. I found these lilies at the grocery store and when I placed them in the vase I detected the most wonderful scent. They are elegant and beautiful in color. This time I didn't strugle with the colors used in the painting because I did a preliminary abstract color study and then translated that into the painting. It worked out very well and I didn't muddy the paint. 8X10 Oil Canvas Panel
