Reworked paintings

Tempting

This is a 7"x 5" oil painted on Gessobord.  I used a controlled palette of Alizarin Crimson, Cad Red Med, Ivory Black, Naples Yellow, and Titanium White.  I did mix my red with a bit of Cad Orange.  My apple melted under the bright light.....the candy just slumped off.....:)

Mentorship program.....painting with value ad color

After much evaluation and direction I decided to redo this painting the way that I FELT...I like the color and the composition MUCH better....what do you think?

Mentoring Program.....black and white study

I tried this again with the suggestions that Sarah made and it was much easier.  I also tried to start in the mid value range so that I could get a nice range of values.  I think I will do it again.  I also tried to be aware of checkering.

Fresh Apples

This is an 8"x 6" oil painting on Gessoboard.  What am I learning?  Work hard and then harder....squint...squint....squint and then use the red plastic viewfinder.  Another thing that is quite apparent is that the painting becomes the reality and color adjustments must be made.

Red and Green

6"X 6" Oil Ampersand Gessobord $100.00     There was an objective with this painting.  I am exploring shape and color in the context of a recognizable still life.  I often struggle with still life setups, with this one I had a very clear objective.  I don't really like to explore narrative in my work and that left me with "So what else".  I was a bit constrained but I think that this will work its way out as I continue to explore these perameters.  This painting is found here .

Apple...Day20

6"X 6" Oil Stretched Canvas I am catching up now...I chose this relatively simple still life today.  I enjoyed painting it so much.  There has been much attention to color as value that I have been studying and it is paying off.  I am very pleased with this apple.  This painting is my submission to Day 20 of the 30 in 30 challenge.  This painting is found here .

Fruit Bowl

8"X 10" Oil Stretched Canvas   Painting apples is not my favorite thing to paint...but I have taken it on in the hopes that I can learn.  This painting can be found here:  https://www.etsy.com/listing/158965702/looknew-workfruit-bowl-by-linda-hunt?ref=shop_home_active

It Feels Like Spring

20"X20" Oil Stretched Canvas   $800.00 I enjoyed this painting.  It is larger than any I have worked on recently.  It is much more challenging for me to work large because I use more paint and there is so much more surface to paint.  I love the freedom of big strokes though.

Two Green Apples

10"X10" Oil $145.00 This little green vase was a recent purchase from a flea market that we went to.  I just felt like color.  I added a few colors to my palette.  As you know I have been working with very limited palettes.  I added my favorite fuchsia to the mix of colors.  My focus in this painting was to create as much depth as possible with the flowers.  I premixed my black rather than using Ivory Black.  I use a mixture of Ultramarine Blue, Alizarin Crimson, and Cad Yellow Med.  You get a nice black and great harmony in the painting.

Brass Vase

8X8   135 For Sale On Etsy     In this still life I am trying to use a different perspective and include more of the still life and surrounding cloth. I also intensified the color. I used a primarily warm palette. I am pleased with the results. This item is for sale ONLY to continental (lower 48) United States customers.

'Grapes and Apples' still life abstract

I have been reading a wonderful book on how to make the most of your paintings and have learned so much. In this painting I concentrated on the composition. It is important to have a well balanced composition with easy passages and interesting transitions. It was also very important that I keep a fresh clean palette.

Apples and Dish

My first painting since the workshop and I actually enjoyed painting. The things that I learned from this workshop by Carol Marine were invaulable.

Apple on Glass Plate SOLD

This just goes to show you what happens when the color note of the background doesn't turn out the way you want. I like the apple well enough to not wipe it out though. I've been working with a very limited palette and find that sometimes it is a real challenge. The palette is Cadmium Yellow Light, Cadmium Lemon, Ultramarine Blue, Alizarin Crimson and White. The one thing that I dislike about my paintings to date is that they are all so pastel. I thought that by limiting my palette amd concentrating on developing new colors from a few might help me over the hump. My problem is how to deepen the colors.

Red Plums

There was just something about this little study that I didn't like so I changed it and prefer the changes made. February 25, 2010

Apples and Umbrella

In searching for a subject I turned to the 3 bags of apples that I had stored in my refrigerator. I knew that I wanted to paint an image with many multiples. The silver tray has been in my husband's family for many years and provided a good surface for the apples. I liked the reflection. The umbrella I have had for several years. I at one point envisioned suspeding them opened from my ceiling. I decided that wasn't a very logical solution in my stufio which is small. SOLD
