Lilies

I bought these lilies yesterday discounted and wanted to get a couple of paintings before they die. This little (12x12) still life gave me fits today and I did what
I could do and must leave it alone. I know it's not perfect, but gosh, I learned a lot from working on it. It got a little gray and pasty I think but it's not all bad.

I like this, Linda. It almost has a Matisse look to it. Lovely!

I like to see how you handle patterns on vases. That throws me sometimes. And, I see the Matisse there too! Love your work.

A very pleasant painting with all the textures and patterns. And the flowers, of course!

Really great color palette, Linda. The touches of oranges and yellows in the small dish are so pretty with the blues shining though. That wonderful vase is so beautiful and gives the entire piece a real elegance.
Linda you have a wonderful sense of style. Your work has rhythm and texture in your brushwork. I enjoyed seeing your color palette thoughout your blog posts. I totally enjoyed stopping by.

For me, the vase is the star of the show, with all the subtle, lovely grays around it. I love the consistency of your style

Methinks you're being a little hard on yourself Linda. First of all 12x12 is a pretty good size. Secondly, lilies for me are a challenge to paint. Last, I was just thinking to myself how I like the subtle palette of this painting before I read your post! Hey I love those Sugar Snap Peas too! That must have been fun to paint.
