Winter in South Carolina

I have a long long way to go but a journey can only begin with one step in front of the other....so I begin.  This is a plein air painting looking out my patio doors from my studio onto the backyard.  I am finding my way.  I am pounding away on this painting because I want to learn.  I have simplified shapes of value and worked on trying to get a separation between things.  That seems to be very difficult to me.  But I will keep on trying until I learn.

Peach Peony....Day 24

6"X 6" Oil Ampersand Gessobord $125.00 I'm ready to chill out after this one.  It was really HARD!   So many petals going all different ways.  I am pleased with the results.  I have to laugh at myself....I thought of showing a step by step process in the painting of this peony....but....never looks like anything until the last few strokes!  I am happy with this painting however I got here.  This painting is found here :
