Daylilies and Vaseline Vase

My Daylilies are just about done blooming. They have been exceptionally pretty this year. It may be because of the cold cold winter that we had here in the South. I bought this beautiful little Vaseline glass vase on Etsy last week and was so excited to paint it. The color is even more vivid in natural sunlight, but, my studio has eaves which prevent much light from coming into the studio. So, I painted from ambient light during mid morning. I did a preliminary sketch which you will see below before I began painting. It helps me with the composition. I did change it somewhat because of the way that the painting progressed.

Il est toujours sympathique de pouvoir visionner le croquis initial qui amène à petits pas sa finalité...
Vos couleurs sont très printanières... J'aime beaucoup...

I LOVE the vase. The painting has beautiful colors going on, but the drawing is truly spectacular!

Thank you, Kathryn...I appreciate your comments...I have been toying with the idea of purchasing a small press because I would really like to do some printmaking. I love to draw and feel that some monotypes, linocuts etc. might be fun.

I am on a Peony roll here.....just enjoying the process of painting and color.  Can be purchased here .

Peach Peony....Day 24

6"X 6" Oil Ampersand Gessobord $125.00 I'm ready to chill out after this one.  It was really HARD!   So many petals going all different ways.  I am pleased with the results.  I have to laugh at myself....I thought of showing a step by step process in the painting of this peony....but....never looks like anything until the last few strokes!  I am happy with this painting however I got here.  This painting is found here :
