Pomegranite In Silver Dappled Bowl

February 4, 2010

I have wanted to paint a Pomegranite with the peeling removed revealing the transparent fruit seeds and I feel that I finally got a painting I was pleased with. I experimented with deep forshortening and view from above. The biggest challenge were the indentatins on the silver bowl until I treated them as strands of pearls. This oil painting is 8 inches by 8 inches on canvas panel.

This came out so well! The red skin and pips contrast well with the silver objects.Lovely reflection too!

Thanks Marie...it was incredibly difficult for me to get it right and may be a little tight because of that.

Peach Peony....Day 24

6"X 6" Oil Ampersand Gessobord $125.00 I'm ready to chill out after this one.  It was really HARD!   So many petals going all different ways.  I am pleased with the results.  I have to laugh at myself....I thought of showing a step by step process in the painting of this peony....but....never looks like anything until the last few strokes!  I am happy with this painting however I got here.  This painting is found here :
