RED LEAVES

The weather has turned cooler and our leaves are just beginning to fall. I found these gorgeous red leaves on my patio yesterday and fell in love with their vibrant color. One of the things that most disturbs me about my painting is the use of white. In this painting I am using strong color as a choice. It is one thing to see value and an entirely different thing to see color as value. I hope to curb the use of so much white.

The leaves are my favorite part of fall - this painting makes me smile. I love the loose brushstrokes.

très belles couleurs !!!
I too, tend to use too much white. I will pass on to you a tip I learned with Qiang-huang, he uses naples yellow to lighten color in many instances.

Peach Peony....Day 24

6"X 6" Oil Ampersand Gessobord $125.00 I'm ready to chill out after this one.  It was really HARD!   So many petals going all different ways.  I am pleased with the results.  I have to laugh at myself....I thought of showing a step by step process in the painting of this peony....but....never looks like anything until the last few strokes!  I am happy with this painting however I got here.  This painting is found here :
