SWEET CHERRIES

I have a set of these wonderful dessert dishes that I believe to be from the 1950's. Remember when there were metal drinking glasses in solid colors? Well, these dessert dishes are made from the same materials. They have a fluted glass dish that sits inside of them. They were the perfect combination for these large luscious cherries that I bought yesterday at the grocery.

We're dating ourselves, but I too remember the metal cups. Actually, I think they're popular again as I've seen them in catalogs. What fun this piece is Linda. Love the cherries!

Yummy looking cherries Linda. I too remember the metal cups and how cold they would get with a drink in them. I even remember the tinny taste!

Loose and luscious! Love the area where the gold and lilac touch each other, but my very favorite part is that thick scalloped edge.

Barbara, I do vividly remember those glasses. My grandmother had a set to go with her Fiestaware. I remember how cold they were when drinking an iced drink!

Thank you, Gwen. I struggle thinking that I am being too tight. Funny how we see ourselves!

I am impressed how you painted the scalloped edge! Just beautifully done. I also remember those metal glasses. My mother had a set with each glass being a different color and my sister and I would fill them with ice and lemonade in the summer. Good memories!

Dusty Pines, thank you very much for your comments on this painting. Glass is a fun thing to paint but it is challenging for me...hope that you do try it!

Lovely painting. Very painterly! I remember those metal cups. also. I was a new bride and went to visit my husband's mother. She had a set of them, and we'd drink iced tea in the summertime.

Linda: Coming to your blog is always such a treat. I never know what to expect. I think it's a combination of your color choices and your sweet/slippery brushwork!! But your compositions totally rock too. Keep 'em coming.
