New Year's Goal

I have a huge library full of wonderful books that I just haven't made time for. This is the one that I currently working out of.  It was published in 1970 and I can't remember where I bought it, but it is a treasure to be sure.  I am going through the elementary exersizes using color and learning things that I just didn't know.
I am mostly a self trained painter.  My degrees in art were primarily in drawing and sculpture.  So, this year I am dedicating my time to searching my miriad of wonderful books and educating myself a little more.  I will share what I learn as I go along.
Today I  have done a number of exersizes.  It is interesting what beautiful colors you can acheive when you mix Raw Sienna with different colors.  In the exersize above I mixed colors together and then added a mixture of white mixed with raw sienna and then mixed those colors together and wow....what gorgeous colors.  A great way to tone down color and in some cases produce hotter color.  I am so excited about what I have learned!!!

My other goal this month is to paint fabric...]:  Now that will take courage.

Great idea! I'm sure we all have books we've never fully tapped for wisdom. I rarely think to put raw sienna on my palette but it is a gentle way to tone bright hues. Your bananas are great.

I really admire what you are doing and look forward to sharing in all you learn.
super idea, but i always LOVE your colors. Still,it's fun to find a good mix. With watercolor so many great colors are from the palette, siwsh here and there and ta-da a greaat color but difficult to replicate.
